Hi, I’m Yota

I’m a software engineer-turned-coach for tech leaders and teams, and the founder of Together in tech, a tech community where your whole self is welcome

Everything I do is about finding ways to make tech more human and inclusive

So that we can create a tech industry (and world) that looks like the kind of world we want to live in: diverse and hopeful and empathetic and kind.

What I do

I help people become inspiring leaders, so they can empower their people and transform their companies

Because I believe that’s how we’ll transform the corporate world into a really empowering and joyful place to work.

A place where individuality is accepted, respected and celebrated.

A place where a company’s people are at the centre of the agenda, and where inclusivity and diversity are truly part of the culture.

A place where high performance is achieved because people feel appreciated, cared for, and inspired by their work.

My story

A little bit of Greek sunshine in London

I grew up in Athens, and the sunshine and warmth of my home has become a part of my personality. (That much will become clear the first time we talk, I promise.)

I moved to London and fell in love with the tech scene — there were so many amazing people and ideas, everything was so alive and diverse.

I started my career as a software engineer, moving up into senior roles with big tech companies including Amazon and Yahoo

As a manager, I learnt that helping my people do their best work lit me up like no other role ever had. I found myself coaching people who weren’t even on my team. I loved it.

Eventually, I hit a place where something was calling me — I wanted to have an even bigger impact than I could on one team or one company. It felt like life had plans for me, if I was willing to listen.

So I took the leap.

(Which is part of why I know how to help you do the same, if something new is calling you.)

Yes, it was scary. No, I had no idea what was going to happen.

But it worked.

I went back to university and got my Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching. Since then, I’ve become an accredited coach, and I get to work with people and teams around the world.

Now I help people make big changes, all day every day*

*With lots of time for hanging out with my family and friends — work-life balance is one of my things, after all

Since starting my coaching career in 2014:

  • I’ve worked with hundreds of tech leaders, from first-time managers to c-suite execs

  • I’ve spoken about leadership to audiences of 1000+ people around the world

  • I’ve joined UCL as a visiting lecturer, leading seminars on positive psychology, business and management

  • My research on gratitude has been published in a top coaching journal

  • I’ve founded a nonprofit, Together in tech, building a community of over 5000 people

  • I’ve become a parent, and learnt that the only thing I love more than tech and making an impact is my daughter, Arianna

  • And I’ve found a way to make my passion my life’s work

“I started working with Yota when I was transitioning into a leadership role, and our sessions have truly been invaluable on this journey. Her approach is honest, positive and practical - always kind but not afraid to challenge you – which has resulted in a steep learning curve and an incredibly rewarding experience overall.”
